The Shooting Schedule
The shooting schedule was split into different sections.I wanted the filming in every scene to be of the highest quality, using the correct equipment such as tripods and lighting were paramount in allowing me to fulfil this ambition. With the use of creating the different sections, it helped in simplifying the editing process of the final music video, as all the footage from a particular section was easy to access and stored in a specially built folder dedicated to that content.
I felt that the shooting method should be split into four separate stages, these are as followed :
Band Footage (Plug n Play Footage) Filming on December 12th, 2009 - This section contained all the of band footage shot in the location of Plug n Play.
Oliver's Narrative Filmed on January 16th,2010 - This section contained all of the footage which was a part of Oliver's narrative.
James's Narrative Filmed on January 30th, 2010 - This section contained all of the footage which was a part of James's narrative.
George's Narrative Filmed on Febuary 13th, 2010 - This section contained all the footage which was a part of George's narrative.
We decided to shoot the band footage first, this gave us an idea of how the rest of the video would look and feel. It also allowed for us as a group to see positive results from the start which were highly effective and important to keeping up the interest high on the project. Due to the use of costumes, and props such as the instruments, it helped in keeping the music video interesting and was used as the firm basis for the beginning of the editing process.
After we had shot all the relevant band footage it was time to film each of the three narratives. This required a different location being discovered for each, to help give each narrative its own ambiance. Once the locations were found, I concentrated upon what the mise en scene of the characters, what props they should have and the vast amount of camera angles in which the scene should be filmed. This was both time consuming and hard at times, but i feel that it was worth the time and clearly evident in the final video.
The Risk Assessment
The risk assessments of filming while undertaking this project were evident throughout, the highest precautions were taken to make sure these didn't occur. The highest risk was being in possession of expensive camera equipment, with having to film outside in some scenes it allowed for the camera and tripod to be on full view to the public. This could of led to of course in the worse circumstances the equipment being stolen, but a precaution was taken that one member of the group had to be looking after the equipment at all times.
Another risk which could of effected the project was the weather, with using electronic equipment such as cameras outside it could of coursed the equipment to break. The precaution taken to try and decrease the risk was to watch the weather forecast and for one member to take a umbrella when filming outside and to protect the camera equipment if the weather was to turn bad.
