Music Video - Audio Commentary with Paul

What Is The Task?

The task is to produce a music video, a set of CD cover's and a magazine advert. We have to choose a unsigned artist, and find a song which will influence the rest of the project. Also to design and create the front cover, the double pages inside, back cover and also a magazine advert to help promote the artist and the chosen song .

We must research our chosen genre of music, and also others genres to find out a variety of information from each. There is also researching music video directors and music tv channels, and say how they have changed the way people listen to music, and also influence the entire music genre with new and expressive means.

We must also acquire audience feedback, from both the music video and the album cover, this should be carried out via a questionnaire or other methods, to get unbiased viewpoints and see how the public feel and react to the created content.

The music video should have a narrative, and represent similar music videos of that genre. The mise en scene and camera techniques must represent the genre that the song is portrayed. Actors and props are also going to be included which must be thought of and acquired by ourselves. The stage direction and the narrative of the music video must also be thought of, these should be creative and should try not to focus on over used narratives. With the use of already released music videos, inspiration must be drawn to create a high quality and polished music video to resemble that of a signed artist.

The CD cover should noticeably fit into the genre of the band. With the use of editing tools such as photoshop, we must create a highly believable set of covers which can be used to back up the main artists image. The creation of a magazine advert is also needed, this should resemble the style and theme of the album cover and to draw in the reader to look closely at the product. With the inspiration from already released CD covers, and adverts in magazine we must look to them for ideas.
